Our founder, Sanjay Sabnani, formed Typhoon Capital in 1996 after his extensive experience in the securities world led him to the conclusion that engineers, scientists, and entrepreneurs with pioneering products and ideas often needed a greater level of service than a traditional investment banking firm was set up to provide. These services include marketing, packaging and financial guidance essential to bringing their ideas to fruition.
Our team members have been involved in financial transactions ranging from seed investments of less than $100,000 to an all cash acquisition of one of our clients for over $250 million. We are well-versed in the structuring of deals and financings and have extensive and current knowledge.
In 1999, Sanjay Sabnani was hired by a public company called Inland Entertainment in order to assist them with the creation of a corporate venturing program within the company. As a result, the company changed its name to Venture Catalyst, Inc. and Sabnani was promoted to President of the company. As it often happens, what had started out as a consulting engagement for our company turned into over a year of full-time involvement. Sabnani returned to Typhoon at the end of 2000.
As the Chief Investment Officer of VCAT, and then the President, Sabnani made numerous contacts in the venture capital arena, and spearheaded investments in numerous emerging companies alongside some of the most highly-respected venture capital firms today.
